Our Weather stations read the wind 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
This data is sent to our server every 3 minutes.
We give you the following info
1) - the current date and time - so you know the info is current.
2) - the current Windspeed in knots (x2 = kph), from the Low speed, then the average windspeed, then upto the recorded gust speed. This gives you the total RANGE of the windspeed.
3) - the current averaged direction from 16 compass points.
4) - the current temperature and barometric pressure, both which have an effect on the the wind.
5+6+7) - plus 3 previous Wind readings - from 15 minutes ago, from 30 minutes ago and from 45 minutes ago. These readings give you a feel of how the wind is developing or dropping.
Note the format Average Speed - Average Direction - LO wind - HIGH Wind
High windspeeds must be considered for your safety. However the range of the windspeed is as important for your safety. We are proud to have lead the change to importantly show you what the lowest speed in the same period is.
This difference between the Lo and Hi windspeed allows you to see how GUSTY the wind conditions are. The more consistent the wind is, the more enjoyment you will get out of the wind. Gusty conditions can be injurious to your health. It is also worth noting how much the direction is swinging backwards and forwards.
